Block also contributed Bitcoin Lightning payment capabilities to x402, hoping to provide infrastructure for payments between individuals, businesses, and AI Agents. The x402 Foundation was established in April this year under the Linux Foundation; other supporters include Google, Microsoft, Amazon Cloud Technology (AWS), and crypto industry companies such as Coinbase and the Solana Foundation.
