TRM: 34 casinos in Cambodia received $1.07 billion in crypto assets, with 64% of the funds flowing into casinos linked to OFAC-sanctioned networks.

PANews October 31 news, according to TRM data, between January 1 and September 7, 2026, 34 physical casinos in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, received approximately $1.07 billion in cryptocurrency. Of this, 64% of the funds flowed to casinos linked to networks sanctioned by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and 99.9% of the funds were transferred in the form of USDT on the TRON chain. Monthly inflows fell from an average of $148 million per month between January and May to about $95 million in July and August, but did not stop completely. These casinos exchange USDT for cash and conduct almost no necessary due diligence on customers; in addition, pawnshops, supermarkets, and exchange counters throughout the city also provide "crypto-to-cash" services.
