IoTeX Zanzibar hard fork goes live on mainnet, with staking rewards now distributed directly on-chain by the protocol.

PANews October 19 news, according to IoTeX official news, the Zanzibar hard fork has been activated on the IoTeX mainnet (block height 53,533,081). Under IIP-59, voter rewards will be calculated and distributed on-chain in each reward era, eliminating off-chain services and intermediaries, and anyone can directly verify each payment from the chain. The first on-chain distribution will take place the next day. This upgrade also strengthens consensus through proof-of-possession checks on delegate keys, preparing for subsequent BLS signature aggregation. Node operators need to upgrade to iotex-core v2.5.1, with no configuration changes or resynchronization required.
