Fidelity: Correlation Between US Treasury Yields and Bitcoin Hits Record High

PANews October 17 news: According to the latest analysis by Fidelity Digital Assets, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield has recently risen to its highest level since Bitcoin's inception. At the same time, U.S. federal debt has surpassed $40 trillion, setting a record high, and interest expenses have exceeded Medicare to become the second-largest expenditure item in the federal budget. Historically, Bitcoin has had essentially no correlation with the 10-year real interest rate, but in recent years it has turned positively correlated, and in 2026 the correlation between the two has exceeded 0.6, hitting a record high. Over the past two months, Bitcoin has risen nearly 30%, while the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield has risen by more than 10% in tandem.

Fidelity pointed out that against the backdrop of high debt and intensifying fiscal pressure, Bitcoin, due to its fixed supply and transparent issuance mechanism, is increasingly being viewed as a potential asset for hedging against currency depreciation and sovereign debt risk. If the current trend continues, interest expenses may soon become the largest expenditure in the federal budget.
