Nine cryptocurrency companies form a quantum alliance, saying public keys for 30.2% of Bitcoin's total supply are already exposed.

PANews October 16 news, according to CoinDesk, 9 crypto companies announced the establishment of the Quantum Alliance, which will develop universal post-quantum security standards for blockchain networks such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, and publish security testing and migration guidelines. Members include Hacken, Midnight Foundation, Quantus, and Postquant Labs. The alliance estimates that the public keys of about 6.4 million BTC (30.2% of the total supply) have been exposed, including about 1.1 million held by Satoshi Nakamoto, but current quantum computers are still unable to crack them. Postquant Labs CTO Richard Carback believes this threat may emerge in 2028 and advocates migrating rather than freezing the threatened BTC. The Vault CRO Bryn Bennett stated that whether to freeze should be decided by Bitcoin network governance.
