In the first half of 2026, listed Bitcoin mining companies will reduce mining equipment investment by approximately US$1.5 billion.

According to Odaily Planet Daily, in the first half of 2026, listed Bitcoin mining companies reduced their realized computing power by 75 EH/s, which corresponds to approximately US$1.5 billion in mining machine investment based on a purchase price of US$20 per TH/s. The main reason for the reduction in computing power is that some power resources have been reallocated to AI infrastructure.

Statistics for 12 companies show that asset impairments and write-downs classified as assets for sale during the same period totaled approximately US$1.1 billion, of which IREN and Core Scientific accounted for nearly 89%. IREN recognized approximately $695 million in related impairments and writedowns from January to June 2026. (Bitcoin.com News)
