Trump's core cabinet members met secretly for several hours at Camp David to discuss next steps in the Iran and Houthi conflicts

BlockBeats news, on October 3, several core cabinet members of U.S. President Trump met behind closed doors for several hours at Camp David on Friday to discuss the next steps in the Iran war and the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi armed forces in Yemen, three U.S. officials told Axios. The Trump administration did not announce the meeting, which is extremely rare. The last time a similar meeting was held was in June 2025, just days before Israel started war against Iran.

Officials said the meeting was chaired by Vice President Vance. Other attendees included Secretary of State Rubio, Defense Secretary Hegseth, White House Special Envoy Witkoff, CIA Director Ratcliffe, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Kaine. "Some things have been decided, or at least discussed in depth," one official said of the Middle East crisis. The White House declined to comment.

Separately, during a meeting of advisers at Camp David on Friday afternoon, reporters asked Trump what his next steps would be to deal with Iran. Trump responded: "If I told you, you'd have a big piece of news. But you'll see. Things are going very well. Things are not going well with Iran."
