El Salvador’s Bitcoin position limit issue was resolved, and the IMF approved a $138 million grant

According to BlockBeats news, on October 2, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the allocation of US$138 million to El Salvador as part of its US$1.4 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) plan.

In this review, the IMF approved an exemption for El Salvador that had previously failed to meet the requirements of projects related to Bitcoin accumulation limits. The IMF said El Salvador has taken corrective measures and pledged to continue reducing government involvement in Bitcoin-related activities.

According to the IMF disclosure, El Salvador is not expected to accumulate Bitcoin beyond the scope of recorded donations in the future, and will continue to strengthen the transparency of disclosure and regulatory framework for government holdings of crypto assets.

The funding is part of a 40-month, approximately $1.4 billion EFF project in El Salvador that was approved in 2025.
