Gate Ventures: Market divergence intensifies, infrastructure remains the main flow of crypto financing

PANews October 20 news, according to official sources, Gate Ventures' latest market weekly report shows that in the week ending October 16, volatility in global financial markets intensified, high-valuation tech stocks continued to come under pressure, and capital rotated toward defensive and value-oriented assets. The crypto market also showed structural divergence: BTC rose 2.4% for the week, ETH fell 5.1%, the total cryptocurrency market capitalization dropped 2.2%, and the Fear and Greed Index fell from 69 to 59. At the same time, both spot BTC and ETH ETFs recorded net fund outflows, indicating a cooling of market sentiment.

At the industry level, digital asset regulation and financial infrastructure construction continued to advance. Australia published a draft legislative framework for crypto asset tax information reporting, while Sweden initiated legal preparations related to a digital krona, reflecting continued attention to digital asset tax transparency and currency digitalization issues. In terms of investment and financing, a total of 5 funding deals were completed last week, of which 4 were in the infrastructure sector, with related financing amounting to $18 million. Despite a clear cooling in overall financing activity, this still accounted for the main share, indicating that capital allocation continues to concentrate on underlying capabilities such as tokenized asset liquidity, settlement, and on-chain financial infrastructure.
